Ski resorts: South Tyrol ski area
The ski areas of South Tyrol
Mountain peaks and snow covered meadows, 300 sunny days a year and an uncontaminated nature: if you want to spend a wonderful ski holiday, South Tyrol is the best choice. This region has a lot of modern ski areas with Alpine and cross-country skiing trails, state of the art ski lifts, facilities for children, convenient ski in ski out hotels and everything you need for the perfect snow holiday.
South Tyrol is the paradise of ski lovers: they have in fact at their disposal more than 20 ski areas located at high altitudes offering miles and miles of perfectly groomed ski runs, modern ski lifts and snowmaking machines guaranteeing a ski season that goes from November to April. You can also practice summer skiing on the trails of the Stelvio Pass and of the glacier of the Val Senales valley. Besides the most famous ski areas of Alta Badia, Val Gardena, Three Peaks/3 Zinnen Dolomites ski resort and Plan de Corones, included in the Dolomiti Superski resort, there are also smaller and less crowded resorts like Val d'Ultimo, Solda, Corno del Renon and Trafoi, included in the Ortler Skiarena resort. South Tyrol meets the needs of everyone: expert skiers, who can put themselves to the test on the more technical trails, where international competitions take place, but also beginners and above all children. Every ski area has in fact ski schools, ski runs for kids and ski kindergarten, but also ski hire shops, snowboard parks, chalets offering delicious local dishes and many ski in ski out hotels.
Besides Alpine skiing, you can practice telemark, carving, cross-country skiing and ski mountaineering. The many well groomed trails cover the entire region, whereas non-skiers can choose among a large variety of alternative activities: from snowshoeing to horse-drawn sleigh tours, from trekking to sledding.
