Skiing in Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Dolomiti Superski

Cortina d'Ampezzo, also known as Queen of the Dolomites, is famous for being a winter wonderland in the Ampezzo Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Italy's first Olympic Games were held here in 1956, and in 2026 the Queen of the Dolomites will once again host the Winter Olympics together with Milan.

Part of the Dolomiti Superski ski area, Cortina comprises the following ski areas: Faloria-Cristallo, Lagazuoi-5 Torri, Tofane, San Vito di Cadore, Auronzo and Misurina. 36 ski lifts for a total of 120 kilometres of slopes, surrounded by unique panoramas.

During the winter season the Ski Area of Cortina d'Ampezzo is home to many sporting, cultural, and high fashion events, including: the Women's Alpine Ski World Cup stage (January) on the Olimpia delle Tofane track, the Snowboard World Cup at night on Faloria (December), the "A mountain of books" Expo (from December to April), the Granfondo Dobbiaco-Cortina (February), and dinners in the shelter, snowshoeing at night, and ski mountaineering competitions at night.

The ski areas of Cortina are part of the Great War Tour, a ski tour that visits all the places that were protagonists of the First World War.

San Vito di Cadore, Auronzo and Misurina

For those seeking peace and quiet and wanting to learn to ski, the small ski resorts of San Vito, Auronzo and Misurina are ideal.

San Vito di Cadore is suitable for those approaching skiing, due to its medium-difficulty and well-sunlit slopes. It has equipped areas for children and cross-country skiing rings. A convenient ski bus service provides access to all the slopes in the district.

The Auronzo ski resort is developed on Monte Agudo, offering 20 km of perfectly snow-covered pistes suitable for skiers of all levels, from children who can take their first steps on skis at the school camp equipped with a carpet lift and a baby skilift to the more expert who can try their hand on the black Fedo slope.

The Misurina ski resort, on the other hand, has several lifts located on the opposite banks of the lake that lead to the top of Col de Varda, from where the four pistes of varying difficulty descend through the woods.
