Senale - San Felice
Senale San Felice is a tourist resort comprising two villages, Senale and San Felice. It is located in the Upper Val di Non valley, close to the Val d'Ultimo valley and to the spa town of Merano. It's a destination for relaxing holidays in the nature: here you can go for hikes and walks to the Tret lake and to the waterfalls of San Felice, and visit the gothic sanctuary. Not far rises Proves, the highest village of the Upper Val di Non valley, on the border with the Val d'Ultimo valley. Rich in traditional taverns and ancient farms, the village was once famous for its bobbin lace-making school.
Senale San Felice is included in the holiday area of Merano and its surroundings. The two villages stretch on the gentle hills of a plateau close to Passo delle Palade, a mountain pass connecting Merano to Cles, in the Val di Non valley.
The hills and larch woods of Senale San Felice are perfect for easy walks and Nordic walking tours. You can go for a tour to the Tret lake, also called Santa Maria lake, and in summer have a nice bath too, and visit the waterfalls of San Felice, the gothic sanctuary and the Triassic Park with its fossils.
In winter Senale San Felice is a favorite destination for snowshoeing.
Close to Passo delle Palade are the remains of a defensive wall built during the Second World War to protect the Upper Val di Non valley from invaders. Since 2007 there are also a museum and an art gallery, the Gampen Gallery.
