Where to hear the roaring of deer in the Dolomites

10 September 2024

Have you ever heard the roaring of a deer? Autumn is the time of the male deer in love, and in the forests of the Dolomite parks, evening and day trips are organised from mid-September to mid-October to admire this spectacle. Hearing the roaring of the deer on a full moon night, at dawn or at dusk is an unforgettable experience.

Do you know why deer roar? After fighting and conquering the female herds, the males incite the other deer to stay away and claim their position. The louder the bramble, the more the deer show their power over the others.

At all the events listed below, special thermal imaging cameras will be used to view the infrared radiation emitted by the animals.
