From Imer you can reach the beautiful Vanoi Valley, the green heart of Trentino, and Castel San Bovo that recently became a tourist resort boasting an uncontaminated environment ideal for walks and hikes. Going towards Primiero you reach San Martino di Castrozza, at the foot of the majestic Pale di San Martino Group, and then the Rolle Pass, connecting this valley with the Fiemme Valley. This is a varied environment made of green basins, wide valleys, steep mountains, rushing streams and calm mountain tarns. An environment protected and included in the nature reserve of the Parco Naturale Paneveggio - Pale di San Martino, and a paradise for summer and winter sports lovers.
San Martino-Rolle Pass-Primiero-Vanoi: winter holidays
On the slopes of the Rolle Pass, connected to those of San Martino di Castrozza, the ski season begins early, in the second half of November. All the slopes will meet the needs of both beginners and expert skiers and can be reached from all the villages of the area thanks to a free skibus service. Ski schools are ready to introduce you to this sport, and some of the instructors are specialized in teaching to children, who can also play in the winter playgrounds, ski kindergartens and sport facilities. Here you can practice every kind of winter sports: snowboarding, cross-country skiing, off-piste, ski mountaineering, hikes and walks along the trails of the Sentieri Vivi, ice climbing and ice skating. If you are looking for routes in the uncontaminated nature try the cross-country skiing trails of the Cereda Pass and of the Calaita Lake. Besides skiing, this area offers you countless activities: solarium at high altitudes, après ski in trendy bars and pubs, shopping, guided tours to the villages or in the Val Canali valley, a ride on the troika, ice karting, and tasting of local products like the tosèla cheese, included in the Strada dei Formaggi wine and food route.
Summer in San Martino-Rolle Pass-Primiero-Vanoi: climbing and hiking
After a long winter, spring and summer are the ideal seasons to explore the many trails winding through the nature reserve. San Martino di Castrozza is the reign of mountaineering and high altitude hiking, with the High Routes, vie ferrate and climbing routes that fascinated even the writer Dino Buzzati. Paradise for climbers and free climbers, this area is crossed by the Haute Route n. 2 and by the Trekking of the Legends. If you are looking for something easier, you can try the mountain bike trails and the cycle paths in the Primiero Valley, explore the surrounding nature practicing orienteering or horse trekking along the East Trentino Horse Trail, practice Nordic walking, or simply try sport fishing and mushroom picking. The Vanoi stream is perfect for canoeing, whereas the "La Fosca" cave awaits all adventurous cavers. In summer there are also many activities for children: mini club, playgrounds, practice walls, adventure parks, guided tours, horseback riding and didactic farms.
