Cut some steal bread into pieces and put it into a tureen, adding some milk. Leave to soak overnight. The day after, stir until you get a smooth mixture, then add one egg, one yolk, some apple slices and a knob of melted butter. Stir until smooth. Add some grated lemon peel, a sachet of vanilla sugar, two or three teaspoons sugar, some yeast and a pinch of flour, then stir the mixture until you get a medium consistency. Put the mixture into a cake pan and cook in the oven at medium heat for about one hour and a half. You can use raisins instead of apples. Some recipes add cocoa (1-2 teaspoons), figs or almonds.
