Holidays in Ponte Gardena in Isarco valley
Ponte Gardena, the third smallest municipality in South Tyrol, is located in the Isarco Valley, about 6 km from Chiusa. The town is best known for its manor, Trostburg Castle (or Fortress Castle), the birthplace of the famous poet and lyricist of the late Middle Ages, Oswald von Wolkenstein. It is also the seat of the Association of Castles and the South Tyrolean Museum of Castles.
Ponte Gardena is also a popular destination for sports enthusiasts. In summer it offers various possibilities for walking, hiking and cycling. The village is crossed by the Valle Isarco cycle path in the section connecting Bressanone with Bolzano. In winter, its strategic location makes it an attractive destination for skiers and snowshoe hikers. Skiers can ski in the neighbouring ski areas of Alpe di Siusi and Val Gardena.
