Built in 2018, the Tibetan bridge in Perarolo had been damaged by storm Vaia. The new Cadore attraction finally reopened in July. The bridge is visible from the Alemagna state road leading to Cortina and is located in the Ansogne industrial zone of Perarolo di Cadore, after Ospitale di Cadore and before Caralte. At the industrial area there is a large car park with wooden signs indicating the nature trail and the Val Montina cheese factory.
The all-metal bridge is 103 metres long and has an average height of 90 metres over the underlying gorge of the Valmontina stream. The bridge provides access to the Val Montina wilderness area, Europe's first and only wilderness area.
In 1994, the Val Montina obtained international recognition as a Wilderness Area: it was the first to obtain it in the entire Alpine arc. An important recognition where the wilderness environment is protected and natural resources are protected.
Perarolo di Cadore
The small village of Perarolo di Cadore lies at the entrance to the Cadore Valley. Among its streets you can admire the Casa dei Trofei, a 19th-century palace that houses the Cidolo and Legname Museum, and Palazzo Lazzaris, a residence in which Queen Margherita and the Prince of Naples stayed.
Situated on the slopes of Mounts Zucco, Dubiea and the Pale di Roda, the village is popular with hikers and those who enjoy walking in nature.
