The Ladin Museum of Fassa accompanies you on a journey of discovery of the Ladin people, from their origins to the present day. The museum houses the ethnographic collections of the Istitut Cultural Ladin of Sèn Jan (Pozza - Vigo), a cultural structure supporting the Ladin community. Legends, culture, art, traditions, folklore: the museum reveals all the secrets of the history and customs of the ancient people of the Dolomites. The museum is divided into several local sections, which form an ethnographic itinerary through the valley.
The Ladin Museum of Fassa was designed at the end of the 1970s and reopened in a new building in 2001. The new museum presents the Ladin cultural heritage with an impeccable design, which was supervised by Milanese architect Ettore Sottsass. The famous illustrator Milo Manara also contributed to the layout of the new building, creating some plates inspired by characters from Fassa mythology.
A visit to the new Ladin Museum is made even more interesting by the presence of a Multimedia Support System: 17 information points equipped with interactive touch-screens, which allow short films on objects or aspects of the exhibition to be viewed. The Museum also has a visitable storage room, a multimedia room for activities, a book-shop and a museum-shop.
In addition to the main building, the Ladin Museum of Fassa has several local sections (including La Sìa, the Venetian sawmill in Penia, the Molìn de Pèzol in Pera di Fassa and the Boteiga da pinter in Moena) which form a real ethnographic itinerary through the Val di Fassa.
