Many of the valleys and saddles in Central Cadore have been already conquered by ski mountaineers. Anyway, this area is not crowded at all, also because the itineraries often require a long march, and sometimes the presence of an expert guide, to reach the starting point. Anyway, ski mountaineering routes in Central Cadore are undoubtedly very charming.
All villages in this area allow to reach some ski mountaineering itineraries. In Pieve di Cadore, for instance, you can start a crossing of the Cadore Dolomites, or reach the saddle Forcella Rocca or the Antelao glacier. From Domegge you can reach the saddle Forcella Montanaia or (with a long and difficult crossing) reach Forni di Sopra in Càrnia, via the saddle Forcella Scodavacca.
From Vigo, choose the Val Crìdola valley: with some luck, you will be able to reach the foot of the mysterious crags of Crìdola. From Calalzo you can reach the Marmarole or the Val d'Oten valley. Lorenzago too offers some interesting ski mountaineering routes, such as the crossing of the Spalti di Toro.
