The Path of Peace is a 520 km hiking route that connects the Stelvio Pass with the Marmolada of great historical importance: it winds along the line of the Italian-Austrian front of the First World War. To travel it all it takes a month, but you can also undertake it at times. Along the way you see the most significant places of the Great War: from the former military roads and to the trenches and fortifications. The track is marked by a white dove on wood or yellow on rock.
The itinerary was created between 1986 and 19990 by the Environmental Restoration and Valorisation Service of the Autonomous Province of Trento. Between 1987 and 1993 numerous fortified works were cleaned and made accessible to visitors, most of the route was put in safety and provided with appropriate signs. On the occasion of the Centennial celebrations of the First World War, the Service for Employment Support and Environmental Valorisation of the Autonomous Province of Trento has initiated a series of works to check, maintain and restore the route.
