The Città di Fiume hut, located in the province of Belluno at the foot of the majestic Mount Pelmo, is a popular destination for hikers all year round. The mountain hut is easily reached by various routes, which differ in length and difficulty, offering opportunities suitable for both expert walkers and those seeking a pleasant walk in nature.
Main route: from Staulanza Pass
The best-known starting point is located at the third hairpin bend on the road up to Staulanza Pass from Pescul, in Val Fiorentina. A large car park is available here, from where you continue along an easy forest road signposted for the hut. After about an hour's walk, and passing the picturesque Malga Fiorentina, you reach your destination. This itinerary, about 5 km long, has a moderate difference in altitude and is accessible in all seasons, perfect even in winter thanks to the beaten track that does not require snowshoes.
Those arriving from Val di Zoldo must instead cross Staulanza Pass and descend towards Pescul to reach the same starting point. The return is along the same route.
