In the south Belluno is surrounded by the river Piave. This important waterway divides the town from an area, which has been linked to it, since always, thanks to a system of bridges, built during the centuries. This area is known as "Castionese", from the name of the main town centre: Castion, a village founded before 1000 AD.
This area is rich in villages and hamlets and a journey among them will allow you to admire many villas, such as Villa Buzzati and Villa Miari Fulcis.
