Alpe Cimbra: what to do in summer
Folgaria, Lavarone and Lusérn, also known as "Alpe Cimbra", lie on a 105 sq. km wide plain on the south east of the Trentino region, at an altitude range between 1000 and 2000 m. The plain includes several peaks, like the Cornetto Mountain, the Cimone Mountain, the Cima Campo Mountain and the Cima Vézzena Mountain. This is a sunny plateau to be discovered in every season, where wellness in all its meanings is the watchword. It is a territory of ancient origins, having strong ties with the past. Luserna/Lusérnis an ancient Cymbrian ethnic and linguistic island; Folgaria was once a Magnifica Comunità, a title implying independence, freedom and home rule; and the Lavarone Lake was already famous during the Belle Époque. Lavarone has also obtained the prestigious Blue Flag Award for the cleaning of its waters.
These tourist resorts still bear the signs left by the First World War, including the seven Austro-Hungarian forts, near which trekking and mountain bike trails have been built, like the "Trekking della Storia", the "100 km dei Forti" trail and the "Fortezze Bike Tour " trail.
Other trekking trails guide you to the discovery of large forests, botanical gardens, biotopes, waterfalls and small tourist attractions like Avez del Prinzep, the biggest silver fir in Europe. The trails range from the easiest ones, suitable to trekkers of every age, to the most difficult ones. Here everyone will find what they are looking for: the European Walking Route E5, the "Attraversata Cimbra", paths marked and maintained by the CAI, the Italian Alpine Club, and 50 tourist itineraries. Moreover, in the Nordic Walking Park there are 17 trails for Nordic walking lovers, while the valley bottoms are the ideal ground to practice orienteering. You can practice swimming, basketball, horseback riding and football in the well equipped sport facilities, hosting in summer national football teams, and you can practice golf in the 18 hole golf course. In summer there are also many important mountain bike race competitions, like the "100 km dei Forti", the Bike Transalp", the Folgaria Megabike" and the "Gran Bike": events that every professional and amateur biker wouldn't want to miss.

If you want to have fun on the snow, besides sledging slopes, snowshoeing trails, winter Nordic walking, snowboarding and ice skating, there are also the Fat Bike, the famous "big" wheel bikes.
Alpe Cimbra: food and wine
