Claut is a small resort in the province of Pordenone, placed in a green bowl at the beginning of the Valcellina valley which is crossed by the streams Settimana and Cellina, and surrounded by the impressive landscape of the Dolomites as well as located inside the nature reserve of the Parco Naturale delle Dolomiti Friulane. Its geographical position allows to practice several sports all over the year, whereas if you are interested in local history and traditions you should not miss to visit the Museum Casa Clautana. Not to miss are also the various events held over the year.
Claut lies in a distinguishing area which is marked by remarkable natural features, such as the fact that it is very close to a part of the Dolomite chain, and that it is included in the nature reserve of the Parco Naturale delle Dolomiti Friulane, a perfect location for enjoyable walks immersed in tranquility.
The territory holds various sporting facilities which allow to practice several sport activities all over the year: during winter time, besides the ice rink, you will find cross country skiing as well as downhill skiing facilities, and also numerous ski mountaineering routes. In spring-summer you can enjoy a pleasant ride on the mountain bike thanks to the recently arranged cycling track, which measures more than 20 km and stretches between the valleys of Claut and Cimolais, with a route marked by enchanting landscapes and interesting sites. Not to forget, all the hiking routes, the mountain bike tracks and the orienteering trails.
The historical aspect of the local traditions is displayed at the Museum Casa Clautana, a stimulating ethnographical museum which, thanks to a tour along the exhibition rooms, allows to discover traditional ethnographical items such as old objects, clothes and tools.
Among the most noteworthy events there are: the "Via Crucis Vivente", a live Way of the Cross which takes place on Good Friday evening along the village's streets in order to remember the Passion; "Arte e Sapori della Valcellina", a historical reenactment based on art, traditions and tastes of the entire valley which is held in July; and the International Hockey Tournament which takes place in September on the second Sunday in the village's ice rink.
