The Arco Castle is the real pearl of the city: the restoration carried out recently brought it back to the splendor of the past, giving new life to the history of the counts of the Counts of Arco, its historical owners, and the imposing Torre Grande.
Worth a mention is the Games Room richely frescoed and the terrace with a view on Arco hamlet.
Inside the Games Room you can admire wonderful frescoes in international Gothic style, from the late '300 to the beginning of' 400, depicting ladies playing dice or chess, St. George and the dragon, battle scenes and the investiture of a knight.
Very suggestive, moreover, is the walk among the olive trees that leads from the center of Arco to the foot of the castle, through an uphill path of about 15 minutes. The castle, which can only be reached by a walk, dominates the plain of the lower Sarca river up to Lake Garda and offers the visitor, thanks to its particular location, a very view over the valleys below.
Arco castle can be visited and in summer represents a picturesque frame for music and literature events.

Summer timetable (from April to September): 10 am - 5 pm
Timetable for March and October: 10 am - 5 pm
Winter timetable (from November to February): 10 am - 4 pm
In January (after the Epiphany) the opening is only on Saturday and Sunday: 10 am - 4 pm
Access to the Upper Towers is allowed up to one hour before closing.
Closed: 1st November, 25-26 December, 1st January and the afternoons of 24 and 31st December.
How to arrive to Arco Castle
The castle can be reached from the historic center of Arco with a walk of about 20 minutes through the olive grove that surrounds it. To reach Arco:
- A22 Brennero: exit Rovereto Sud, continue on the SS40 towards Mori-Riva del Garda-Arco. From the north you can also exit at Trento Centre and then continue for Arco along the SS 45b for about 40 km
- From the south-east of the lake: continue along the eastern Gardesana SS49 (Peschiera - Garda - Malcesine - Torbole - Riva del Garda - Arco)
- From the south-west of the lake: undertake the western Gardesana SS45bis (Brescia - Salò - Limone - Riva del Garda - Arco)
