Calceranica al Lago
Calceranica al Lago: Caldonazzo lake, cycle track and sport
Ancient fishing village, Calceranica al Lago is nowadays an international tourist attraction thanks to its lake, the accommodation facilities and its shores. The village is divided into two parts, the first down on the lake shores, the second above on the hills: southwards entertainment and fun with the bars, pubs and many sport activities, northwards history and traditions in the museums and ancient churches.
Calceranica al Lago, a small village of the Valsugana valley lying between the Vigolana Plateau and the Lake of Caldonazzo, offers many opportunities for a holiday dedicated to sport and history. In summer, the sand and grass shores with lounge chairs and beach umbrellas are perfect for relaxing and sunbathing lulled by the lazy sound of the waves, while you observe the many rowing and sailing boats, canoes, paddle boats and dragon boats moving on the water surface.
A beautiful lakeside walk goes from the railway station to the leisure center, with pubs and restaurants where you can have a rest in the sun. Near the village you find also the Valsugana cycle track, running for about 80 km towards Bassano del Grappa.
From the lake you can reach the village center, up on a hill, and visit some interesting museums and ancient buildings: the Mine Museum, with interesting information on the local mining industry up to 1965, year in which the mine was closed; St. Ermete's church, built on a Roman milestone; and the Parish Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, in gothic-renaissance style.
