A spring festival that invites you to discover the most beautiful corners of South Tyrol's capital through an evocative journey through nature and art. From 4 April to 1 May, Bolzano will present a rich programme of dance, music and theatre at the highest level.
The highlight of the festival will be the traditional Flower Festival now in its 134th edition. For the occasion, Piazza Walther will be transformed into an immense botanical garden in the heart of the city.
Bolzano in bloom art
Throughout the month of April, Bolzano is transformed into an enchanted place, with live performances and Land Art installations by South Tyrolean artist Jan Langer. In addition, there will be a Sound Art installation curated by Roberto Pugliese. This anticipates the international event Bolzano Danza (15-27 July 2024), with a live performance by dancers selected for the occasion.
In collaboration with UNIKA, local artisans will bring the windows of some disused shops in the city centre to life, offering a unique opportunity to discover local craftsmanship.
Every Thursday evening, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., it will be possible to enjoy extended aperitifs, while every Sunday morning, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., musical performances will be held with artists such as Camilla Guerrini, Manuel Randi, Tragos de Tango and the Gipsy Swing Quintet.
In addition, Saturdays will be dedicated to classical music, with concerts performed by young talents in cooperation with the Bolzano Conservatory.
The 134th Bolzano Flower Festival
From 30 April to 1 May, Walther Square is transformed into a feast for the eyes, with countless arrangements and original flower decorations. The Bolzano Flower Festival, the city's oldest and most continuous event, is a gift from the South Tyrolean Floriculturists' Association. Members of the association offer a wide range of plants and flowers for sale, along with many novelties from their gardens and greenhouses, as well as providing ideas and tips for their care. This is an unmissable event not only for gardening enthusiasts, but also for young and old eager to experiment with their hands dipped in the earth.
Under the expert guidance of local chef Mattia Tagetto, the palate becomes a garden of flavours during the Flower Festival. In a unique culinary journey, the cuisine on offer blends harmoniously with the floral beauty, offering a true hymn to spring. Among his most surprising creations is the encounter of the canederlo with Italy's rich gastronomic diversity.
