Antholz valley: hiking, mountain lakes, cross-country skiing and biathlon
The Antholz valley lies unfar from Brunico and extends 18 kilometer long among imposing mountains over 3000 meters. A romantic fairy place, giving you peace and relax all the year round: walks, hikes and activities in the biathlon center, seat of the World championship. Come and discover it!
Walk through the forests, go along the numerous paths taking you to the highest peaks, and there admire the surrounding landscape... You can do what you prefer: walk, go by bike or laze about on the bench of the Anterselva lake.
In fact, nature is conductive to long walks in the natural park, either on foot or by mountain bike, for example along the itinerary around the Vedrette di Ries. Furthermore you have at your disposal two tennis courts, ping pong tables, a roller skating ring, a playground with Kneipp facility and everything you need to spend your holiday far away from confusion, without having to renounce to shops and services.
In winter, the valley is ideal for cross-country skiing and biathlon: in fact, this is where you can find the biathlon center where the world championship take place every year. Close to the lake there are two sledge slopes, where both children and adults will have fun.
If you like walking in the snow, there are many possible itineraries in the silent woods, either skiing or wearing snowshoes.
There are many hamlets in the valley. The first village you see coming from Brunico is Rasun, where you can find an interesting biotope, and its hamlets Rasun di Sotto, Rasun di Sopra and Nove Case. Going on there are Anterselva di Sotto, Anterselva di Mezzo, Anterselva di Sopra and finally the wonderful Anterselva lake. They are all picturesque and worth discovering, in the peace and quiet that only some places in the mountain can allow. And the valley of Anterselva is one of these places.
