Alba di Canazei: Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and high altitude hikes
Alba di Canazei is a wonderful resort of the municipality of Canazei in the Val di Fassa valley, lying at the foot of the Sella and the Marmolada. It is an idyllic paradise for ski fanatics, especially those who appreciate having all comforts.
Alba di Canazei: what to do
Staying in one of the hotels of the village you can quickly reach the slopes: the Ciampac aerial tramway lies in fact in the center of the village and takes you to the Ciampac-Buffaure ski resort, where you find ski slopes of every level and cosy mountain refuges with large terraces offering a 360° view of this unique landscape: the Latemar, the Catinaccio, the Sassolungo, the Pordoi and the Marmolada. Moreover, from here you can reach the Sellaronda ski route, whereas in the direction of the Fedaia Pass you can reach the Pian dei Fiacconi refuge on the Marmolada. The resort offers cross-country skiing trails, an ice stadium and ski mountaineering routes open until May. Kids can learn skiing on the baby slopes or have fun in the playground, whereas at the ice stadium of Alba you can watch Serie A ice hockey matches.
In summer you can walk among the forests or on high altitude trails, practice mountain biking, tennis and horseback riding discovering ancient places and traditions. One of the places you should visit is the Valle del Contrin valley, with typical Alpine summer houses called malghe, where you can see how home-made cheese is produced.
